Stake shape offers a different choice from stake length

VARGO Titanium Nail Peg measures 6.4 in and uses a nail design, while Titanium Crevice Stake is 6 in and V-shaped. MSR's aluminum option reaches 7.5 in with a Y-beam design. Material, shape and length describe different parts of the choice; none measures holding strength in your soil.

Use the tent maker's ground-condition guidance to decide which design to investigate. We are comparing stake construction without measuring pull-out force or using these stakes in a campsite.

Keep pack quantities separate from individual measurements

Length is supported for 8 products and spans 6 in to 7.5 in. NEMO and Coghlan’s have no supported length here, so an active minimum-length limit excludes their stakes. Remove the length limit if you want to inspect their construction descriptions too.

A pack size does not add new stake designs, and a pack weight cannot supply an individual stake's weight without further information. Choose the actual size variant on the maker page; do not assume every option under a shared stake name has the same dimensions.

Before you buy

Are longer stakes always better?

Length is a construction dimension rather than a holding-strength result. Your ground and intended pitch need the maker’s use instructions. The comparison also leaves individual weight out where only pack weights or no weights are supplied.

Does the table compare weight?

Several pages omit individual weight or give only a pack weight, so weight is not one of the three filters.

Why does Sweepstake have no length figure?

Its retained source does not supply a usable stake length. Unknown length cannot meet a selected minimum, rather than being treated as zero or borrowed from a similar stake. Use the exact maker page for the missing measurement. MSR Groundhog is a 7.5 in aluminum Y-beam stake; NEMO Sweepstake is also an aluminum Y-beam, with length unknown here. Those designs need different information. For a known length in that construction, Groundhog gives you a value to compare.
