How do climbing shoes differ in downturn and asymmetry?

SCARPA’s Drago is highly downturned and highly asymmetric; Arpia V is moderately downturned and slightly asymmetric. Both use Vibram XS Grip2. Fit remains personal.

The rubber name does not prove grip or comfort; use the model’s sizing guidance.

How the comparison works

Your choices are compared with each model’s product details. A missing or conflicting value stays unknown and cannot satisfy a choice you select. The starting order helps you browse; it does not rate real-world performance.

Source dates appear with each link below. A source date does not confirm today's price or stock.

Drago and Boostic R separate shape from rubber

SCARPA calls both Drago and Boostic R Highly Downturned and Highly Asymmetric. Their rubber differs: Drago uses Vibram® XS Grip2, while Boostic R uses Vibram® XS Edge. A shape preference therefore does not settle your compound choice.

Arpia V pairs Moderately Downturned with Slightly Asymmetric; Force Men's pairs Flat with Slightly Asymmetric. These are manufacturer design descriptions, read from shoe pages rather than assessed on climbing routes.

Upper materials add another distinction before you try a size

Drago has a Microsuede + Leather upper, while Arpia V uses Microsuede. Across the 10 shoes here, the shape, asymmetry and rubber fields describe construction rather than the fit of your heel or toes.

Use each model’s sizing and fit advice before choosing a size. Downturn cannot tell you how a shoe fits your foot, and a compound name supplies no measured grip comparison.

Before you buy

Does the finder recommend a shoe size?

It compares manufacturer shape and material labels. Use the model’s own sizing information and try the fit when possible.

Are these the only climbing shoes available?

This is a single-brand comparison of SCARPA models with comparable published specifications. SCARPA’s Drago is highly downturned and highly asymmetric; Arpia V is moderately downturned and slightly asymmetric. Both use Vibram XS Grip2. Fit remains personal. For a less downturned shape, Arpia V meets that preference within these 10 models. The rubber name does not prove grip or comfort; use the model’s sizing guidance.

Are all sizes in stock?

At least one size was available for each included model when its source was checked. Your own size can have a different status. Use the model’s fit guidance and current size selector before ordering.
