10 models to compare

Does more eye relief mean heavier binoculars?

Mostly. Four of the five binoculars with 14 mm or more of eye relief weigh 16 to 18 oz; the exception is Nikon's Travelite 8x25 at 9.3 oz.

This comparison does not assess fit with glasses.

How the comparison works

Your choices are compared with each model’s product details. A missing or conflicting value stays unknown and cannot satisfy a choice you select. The starting order helps you browse; it does not rate real-world performance.

Source dates appear with each link below. A source date does not confirm today's price or stock.

Compact optics can still have very different carrying weights

Optical viewing remains unassessed; manufacturer dimensions supply the table. Nikon's Mikron weighs 4.5 oz; Celestron's Nature DX weighs 18 oz in the configurations compared here. Objective diameters run from 15 to 32 mm, but that compact diameter range does not make carrying weights equivalent. Compare the exact magnification and objective combination before ordering another version from the same family.

Eye relief ranges from 9.3 to 15.6 mm. Use it as a separate selection criterion alongside weight, particularly if eyepiece placement matters to you.

Magnification is a preference rather than an image-quality verdict

Magnification factors span 6x to 12x. Nikon's Mikron is at 6x; its STABILIZED model is at 12x. Those figures describe image enlargement, not sharpness or viewing comfort. A higher factor should not be mistaken for a quality rating.

Field-of-view information is available for 9 configurations, with the Mikron's value missing. Compare the maker's view-width figures only with their stated distance, and leave the gap open. Product-family names alone cannot show that another configuration has the same eye relief or field of view.

Before you buy

What counts as compact here?

An objective of 32 mm or smaller, with one configuration per model family. That still runs from the 15 mm Mikron to several Celestron roof models at that upper bound, so weight has its own filter.

What do you give up with 10x or 12x?

Magnification alone doesn't order the field-of-view figures here. At 1,000 yd, the 8x Nikon Travelite spans 293 ft, while the three 10x models span 304 to 346 ft. The 12x Nikon STABILIZED spans 236 ft, versus 432.3 ft for the 8x Celestron Outland X. Compare each model's figures; this page doesn't assess steadiness. For a low carrying weight, Nikon's Mikron 6x15 is 4.5 oz with 10.1 mm of eye relief, and the ACULON T02 8x21 is 6.9 oz with 10.3 mm.
