10 models to compare

Do thicker NEMO sleeping pads have higher R-values?

No. Five pads are 3.5 in thick, with R-values from 1.5 (Astro Non-Insulated) to 8.5 (Tensor Extreme Conditions).

The insulation inside differs, so on cold ground go by R-value, not thickness. If you count grams, the Tensor Elite is 240 g at R-value 2.4.

How the comparison works

Your choices are compared with each model’s product details. A missing or conflicting value stays unknown and cannot satisfy a choice you select. The starting order helps you browse; it does not rate real-world performance.

Source dates appear with each link below. A source date does not confirm today's price or stock.

Tent floor space separates the Roamer from the Tensor

NEMO’s pad widths range from 20 to 40 in, with lengths from 72 to 78 in. The Roamer Double takes the 40 in by 78 in footprint; the Tensor Elite Regular Mummy is 20 in by 72 in. You need the full outline to judge tent space, especially when comparing a mummy shape with a rectangular mattress.

Use R-value without turning it into a temperature promise

Maker R-values span 1.5 to 8.5. The Astro Non-Insulated sits at 1.5, while the Tensor Extreme Conditions is 8.5. This guide reads NEMO’s insulation figures rather than reporting nights spent on the pads. R-value describes insulation; it does not provide a safe overnight temperature for your whole sleep system. Consult the maker’s conditions guidance alongside your sleeping bag and shelter.

Thickness and carried mass pull in different directions

Minimum weights span 240 to 2800 g, and thickness spans 0.9 to 4 in. The Tensor Elite is 240 g and 3 in thick; the Roamer Double is 2800 g and 4 in thick. NEMO’s Switchback is 415 g and 0.9 in thick. Read “minimum weight” on the same basis for each pad; it need not describe everything you put in your pack.

Insulation construction leaves a separate packing question

Insulation materials are available for 9 pads. The Astro Non-Insulated has an R-value even though its material entry is absent. Tensor models identify aluminized film, while the Roamer uses open-cell foam. Those descriptions help distinguish construction, but do not supply packed dimensions. Get the packed measurements for the exact size before assigning it a compartment in your bag.

Before you buy

How do R-value and weight compare?

The Flyer Cloud lists R-value 5.1 at a minimum weight of 810 g, while the Tensor All-Season lists R-value 5.4 at 400 g. No temperature rating is recorded here.

Are these packed weights?

They're the figure NEMO labels Minimum Weight for each size. Packed weight, stuff sacks and pumps aren't included here, so look at the page for the size you want.

Does every model come in the size shown?

Each row is one size: nine are Regular at 72 in by 20 in, and the Roamer is the Double at 78 in by 40 in and 2,800 g. If you need another size, expect its own dimensions and weight.

Which pads self-inflate?

By name, the Roamer, Flyer Cloud and Flyer, all with open-cell foam. The Switchback is closed-cell foam at 0.9 in, the Astro Insulated uses PrimaLoft, the four Tensors an aluminized film, and no insulation type is recorded here for the Astro Non-Insulated.
